Hey, check out Facebook. Randy Winter has started a MRER forum for members and those interested in endurance riding. Join the discussion.
Sue Hedgecock has been notified that the American Horse Trials Foundation, Inc. a 501(c)3 will be willing to hold and disperse funds raised for the Mountain Zone FEI Endurance Team Senior and Young Rider fund raising efforts. To find out more about the AHTF, go to www.ahtf3day.org.
The purpose of organizing Mtn Zone FEI Riders and getting this tax deductible organization involved will allow for funds to be dispersed for major FEI events for Mtn. Zone Team/Senior and Young Rider events once a tax deductible donation of $50.00 or more has been made. When enough fundings is available our Mtn Zone chef, and other willing commitee members along with Sue, can disperse funds as seen fit for FEI competiton(put on a ride?), travel, education, entry fees, veterinarian costs and education for events such as NAEC, YR Championships or other high level FEI competitions, according to the guidelines within AHTF.
For more information you may call Sue at 453 901 2977 or email her at suewhtrningpt@aol.com If you are interested in advising or participating on committee in this endeavor please contact me. I hope to put together 3 or 4 interested people that may want to help fund raise, and make decisions about this funding. My excitement at having AHTF involved as a nonprofit to help our FEI Mtn riders achieve competitive goals is wonderful! I have been involved with the AHTF since 2003 and been able to achieve FEI goals with my horses that I thought were financially out of my reach, with seamless effort. I hope that people that want to help our team will see the benefits of a tax deductible donation that will help the group as a whole.
Check out the new "Classifieds Section"! You can post your own classifieds and sell horses, trailers, tack and saddles. Free to all members! MRER member vendors are welcome as well.

Christoph Schork trains himself as hard and consistent as he does the horses. He has been a Ski Instructor for over 20 years. The last 13 years he has been teaching skiing, training his horses for endurance racing, ride and ties, climbing and flying, in Jackson, WY and Victor, ID.
He is one of the top instructors at Jackson Mountain Resort and teaches the Steep and Deep camps offered throughout the ski season. He has climbed and skied all the major peaks in the Tetons and Wind River Mountains. He and his faithful dog, Tilley, have been published in a book, Teton Skiing: A History & Guide to the Teton Range, by Thomas Turiano.
He started his career in the German Army at the ripe young age of 20. During these years he dedicated himself to learning the mountaineering skills it would take for him to climb mountains in the 25,000 ft range (without oxygen of course!) and then ski down. He's done incredible ice and rock climbing, high altitude mountain expeditions and kayak river exploration all around the World. Once out of the Army he headed to the United States and the mountains of Park City, UT.
While he was in Park City, UT, he taught Alpine Skiing, was a Ski School director at Jeremy Ranch Nordic Ski School, and participated in two new sports, Ski Archery and Ski Joring. It was there he met Olympic and World Archery Champion, Ed Eliason, who was pioneering the sport of Ski Archery (Archery Biathlon) and became Christophs mentor in Archery. Christoph showed Ed some techniques in cross-country skating. Together they were the nucleus for the rise of the sport of Archery Biathlon in the USA. Christoph went on to win 5 National Championships and the 1993 World Ski Archery Championships. In addition to this, he won the Ski Joring event thanks to a fast horse, his skiing capabilities, and bold rider.

Queenie is a Anglo mare, chestnut in color and had a very long and successful endurance career. We acquired her basically because no one could catch her and she was more of a corral full when she was caught. It was in 1989 after a ride in Idaho that she broke her lead line from a friend's trailer and the entire camp helped herd her into the back of our big old yellow trailer. It took several portable panels, brave and big men and a couple of hours before we locked her into her space. At that point she became our back up horse. We were riding Slickrock, Swiftwater, Spotty and Grasshopper but for some reason accepted this wild thing Queenie into our endurance program (although thinking back it may have been that we had the only slant load open trailer at the ride!). Crockett took on her challenge and started the training process of this soon to be great back up mare. Slickrock was of great help since he was a solid 16.1 gelding and Queen learned how to pony. Once she realized a giant Red Cedar Tree and Crockett's determination was not going to budge, Queenie decided it was easier to just accept saddle, bit, rider and the ever so steep and rugged training trails of Avery, Idaho. Queenie became the horse between horses. The horse to mark trails, the horse when someone came to visit, the horse at rides to lend to a rider who horse went lame, the horse Genie Stewart-Spears rode for her first 5 day Pioneer Ride and Genie's second 5 day Pioneer Ride, the horse Georges Chauvin from France traveled to the States to win the Rocky Mountain 5 day Pioneer Ride and be the first Foreign Rider to win such an event, the horse our little nieces and nephews rode their first ride on and the horse who cradled me through the miles after loosing my precious OT Kid Curry. Queenie is not "sweet" or "personable" but rather a horse of business and yet willing to get down the trail and get back to her hay. She is and was such a consistent competitor. Her pace was strong, smooth, steady and sound. Crockett worked as consistent on shoeing her as her weak Anglo feet were always a challenge. We retired Queenie at 16 after winning the 100 Mile National Championship in her 1999 endurance season to breed her. She achieved her 7 thousand mile medallion and coming 17 we had great hopes and fears of getting her in foal. After several breeding seasons she just simply refused to become a mother. She would never settle so she has the life of a "Queen" on her own terms content with miles and awards.
